Cork-Based Agritech Startup Transforms Livestock Management with Award-Winning Innovation

Moonsyst has emerged as the standout winner of the prestigious third AgTechUCD accelerator programme, securing the AIB and Yield Lab AgTech Start-up 2024 award at a recent pitching event held at University College Dublin.
 

Smart Technology Meets Animal Health
Moonsyst, co-founded by Desmond Savage and Peter Gesler, has developed what can be described as a 'Fitbit for cows' – an innovative Smart Rumen Monitoring device that represents a major leap forward in livestock management. The company's ingenious solution involves an ingestible sensor that remains within cattle throughout their lifetime, continuously collecting vital health data.

"Our system transforms how farmers monitor their herds," explains Savage. "By collecting real-time information from inside the animal, we're able to give farmers unprecedented insight into their cattle's health and reproductive cycles."

The smart device, which is easily administered orally, works in conjunction with cloud-based software and artificial intelligence to predict health issues and reproductive events. 

Farmers can access this critical information through their mobile phones or web applications, enabling 24/7 monitoring of their livestock.
